This is pretty ambitious. Mixed meter throughout. I saw Herbie play this in April and new that I must try and learn it so I could cover it. Thanks for checking out this version which Vinnie played on. It is not the original version from 1973 with Mike Clark on drums.

Thanks for watching this. Though I covered this tune some time ago, I wanted to redo it and with the opportunity to cover the police and sting week July 19-25 2024, it was a great time to dust this off and play it again. I am very happy with this. No doubt this was a hard song to learn with the implied 4 feel over the actual 5/4 time signature. I rarely attempt to play note for note from the or...

Buffing on silver plating with rouge and Kerosene
Просмотров 739Месяц назад
The Kerosene trick is an old repair trick from years and years ago that I had always heard of. I had never tried it until recently. The Kerosene helps to lubricate and keep the rouge from embedding into the finish or leaving little bumps of rouge caked up. degreasing or wiping down is very easy with this trick and the results are better than hand polishing silver.

This is a song by Billy Joel done by Garth Brooks. It was a huge hit for Garth. I invited my good friend Earl "The Hammer" Bennett to cover the Bill Joel version since he is so good with Billy's tunes and I would do the Garth version to be released on same day for the drumming community to A-B them! How cool! Enjoy and do check out Earl's version on You Tube. I know I will!

      Well thanks, little brother, with the big sound. I can say I know where it is weak. I do not have the kind of chops I need to pull off these 4 choruses of drum solo. I almost cut it to show just one chorus. But, caution is the better part of valor and I am kind of a go for it guy and hope for the best. I know my weaknesses. Thanks for recognizing the strengths. But I am a little bummed on only 66 views. This was by far the hardest song I have ever done. Time for me to cover Old Time Rock and Roll by Bob Seager.... LOL!

    I have a 1963 Broadkaster red sparkle set 14 snare, 12 & 14 toms and 20" bass purchased new by me. Still my one and only set. Never was happy with the snare response so use Ludwigs, either a 5 x14 Supraphonic or a 6.5 x14 BB. What I find surprising is that you had no trouble fitting new heads to the Gretsch's. I had to find heads that were purposely over size to easily slip on, i.e., "vintage" grades.

    • @jimflys2
      @jimflys2 26 дней назад

      @ericbrunner4140 and today Remo make Vintage head to fit these slightly oversize shells. Yep Gretsch snares have never been classics. Ludwigs are. Gretsch snares are just raspy. I had a 6 1/2 blue sparkle round badge. I wanted to love it. I could never get it to sound good, so I sold it for $50.00 to a Gretsch freak in Ohio...like 1988. I'm sure he was happy.
